Honored to Inspire
As a former teacher, I feel passionately about exposing kids to art and giving them the freedom and opportunity to explore a variety of artistic styles. So when I was tagged in a Facebook post by a Claymont City Schools K-4 art teacher sharing her 4th graders’ artwork inspired by ME earlier this year, I was overjoyed! What an absolute honor and one that I truly cherish.
The art teacher, Nicole Miles, explained that she introduced her students to to my pen and ink work, a brief history about me, and shared some of my collection of work with them.
Using sharpies and colored pencils, she then asked students to, first, create “rows and columns (not straight) then houses were created from those lines.” Each space had to be colored individually. She encouraged them to use heavier color on the perimeter of each shape and a lighter color in the center. Some students did, other’s didn’t. The results were incredible!!
I hope you enjoy their work in the gallery above and a huge thank you to teacher Miles for the honor to inspire your students!
