About the Artist

"Color has taken possession of me...Color and I are one. I am a painter" Paul Klee

I am an artist, I feel tranquility when I am creating, I feel content when I paint. I love to doodle. If you walk around my home you will see doodles everywhere. A lot of my work is based on my doodles. Much of my artwork reflects the joy and radiance of life. I dream about what I will paint next. I can sometimes see the finished painting in my thoughts. It’s mostly about trips I have taken, places I have lived in or about my hometown: Buenos Aires, Argentina. There is something very happy and peaceful about the colors that I use.

Color has always mesmerized me—especially bright and vivid colors. I was born in Buenos Aires, a very colorful city in every aspect. I went to Art School back in the 70's, practiced art therapy with children, and taught art to grade school kids for 20 years. Then, still trying to find my voice, I went back to school for graphic arts. I tried my hand at original art greeting cards from all my doodles and am now back full circle, working full time on my first love, painting.
I brought up my son believing he should follow his dream. He is. He's a professional photographer in NYC. Taking cues from him, after much soul searching, I was very fortunate, thanks to the support of the people in my life, to be able to retire from teaching and am now following my dream. I have never been so happy.

When not in her studio (June through end of August) Dora runs her summer camp "fun in the Sun" with two other teachers.

Dora lives in the “Art Museum” area of Philadelphia with her partner. Her son, 25 is a photographer in New York: www.jonathanmeter.com
